Welcome to Smythwicks.org, an on-line Field-Bred ESS database. This database is provided as a public service, with the hope that this free exchange of information will encourage others to likewise share their information. Much of this is already happening. The information herein, while not perfect, undergoes a form of peer-review by perhaps a dozen Springer pedigree enthusiasts worldwide. With this review, information that has been posted is as accurate as possible, but still subject to revision. There is much conflicting information floating around and sometimes the truth is elusive.
The website includes several features to help you in your quest for pedigree information. An "Alpha List" is included for rapid access. This list is not as current as the actual database files. Those wishing to dig deeper will appreciate the detailed downloadable database files in our database section.
The database is possible because of a cooperative effort of many breeders seriously interested in pedigrees; breeders who are interested in preserving information before it is lost. If you have paper pedigrees, old catalogs or springer magazines that you would like to donate, you may be confident that information will be gleaned that will benefit all for generations to come.
Also included on this site is some information on the Smythwicks line, the impetus for the website in the first place. We hope you will enjoy browsing through this, as well as the brand new section on the Ru-Char line, which forms the basis for most of the Smythwicks breeding. The Ru-Char information is far from complete, and we welcome any pedigrees, photos or stories that you may wish to contribute. Contact us.
